Arkansas Attorney General, Leslie Rutledge and Former Colorado Attorney General, Cynthia Coffman appear at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville on April 25, 2019.
- Leslie Carol Rutledge is the 56th Attorney General of Arkansas. She was sworn into office in 2015 and is the first woman to be elected to the office. She has addressed issues on internet safety, Military/Veterans Initiatives, Prescription Drug Abuse and Consumer Protections.
Leslie Rutledge has made it a priority to raise awareness of domestic violence, sexual assault and dating violence and provide several resources to educate and assist Arkansans on this pressing issue.
- Cynthia Coffman was elected Colorado’s Attorney General in 2004. She was named Best Public Sector Lawyer and named Chair of the Conference of Western Attorney Generals.
In addition to her work on internet safety, reduction of teen suicide and marijuana legalization, Coffman signed Colorado onto a lawsuit which sought to roll back the Clean Power Plan and led the state’s lawsuit against Boulder County, CO over that county’s drilling moratorium.
- Both Attorneys General worked on lawsuits against the Obama EPA involving the Clean Power Plan and Clean Water Act. They also both signed on to a lawsuit to allow the U.S. Census Bureau to ask citizenship status.
Time: Reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Melba Shewmaker National Child Protection Training Center (NCPTC), located on the NWACC campus, followed by the Symposium.
Influential Women in Government Symposium at 6:30 p.m. at the Peterson Auditorium located in the Shewmaker for Global Business Development building on the NWACC Campus, featuring the Attorneys General discussing issues they have addressed that have national significance.
Opening Remarks by NWACC President, Dr. Evelyn E. Jorgenson and Welcome by Bentonville Mayor Stephanie Orman.
